HOW TO REPORT INSTANCES OF CORRUPTION TO THE
OMBUDSMAN
The Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration (Ombudsman) is a constitutional
appointment and is charged with the duty of investigating and reporting upon complaints or
allegations of the infringement of fundamental rights and other injustices by public officers
and officers of public corporations, local authorities and similar institutions. The Ombudsman
and his staff must also maintain full confidentiality in their work.
The Ombudsman can not handle cases of bribery (which can be directed to the Commission
to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption) but can handle other forms of corruption,
such as the abuse of power, neglect etc., of public sector officials.
